In the early hours of this morning we launched an update to the Fatsoma system. All tickets are now issued individually. Therefore when your customer purchases for example 5 VIP tickets for an event, they will receive a pdf with 5 separate tickets in there, each one with its own reference number and barcode.

What this means for you

Customers can easily buy for their friends then hand their tickets out. Because not everyone arrives together.

Entry on the night runs smoother as you can check people off the list or scan each ticket.

Fatsoma is now able to be fully integrated with other ticketing software such as the entry systems in operation at O2 Academies across the nation, a partnership which we have recently secured.

The only exception of course is when you list a ticket type that admits multiple people, such as a table or a booth ticket. This is made clear at the top of the paper list, the ticket itself and on the app when you scan the ticket.

What else is new?

We have also made a couple of improvements to our party feature. When your customers buy a ticket on Fatsoma, a party will be created and they’ll be taken directly to a party page similar to the screenshot above. Here they can print their tickets, add info about their party, and instantly invite their friends to your event via Facebook and Fatsoma.

More improvements coming soon

In the last month we’ve relocated to new, bigger offices in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and employed 6 new sales reps and programmers. Our development team is now 8-strong, more than any other similarly sized ticketing company in the UK, which means we will be able to roll out effective new features faster than ever before. From mobile ticketing and mobile entry systems to facebook integrations and an updated promotions platform, many more improvements will be coming soon, so watch this space!

There is no better feeling than being fully confident when purchasing a product. That’s why here at Fatsoma, we have put a few reassurances in place that are readily accessible and give you the confidence to use the system on the back of our new social platform makeover.

1. ‘The event is cancelled. Can I have a refund?’

It is the responsibility of the promoter to inform you of any cancellation directly. In the event of a cancellation, please contact us here at Fatsoma no later than 2 days after the event was due to take place on 08443588677 or support@fatsoma.com. All refunds are sanctioned by the promoter so we will need to confirm the cancellation with them before any refunds can be processed. Once this is confirmed, refunds take around 2-3 working days to arrive back in your account once refunds have been processed, minus booking fee as per our terms.

2. ‘I have purchased the wrong ticket. Can you refund me the original ticket so I can purchase the correct one?’

You will need to purchase the correct ticket before the original order can be refunded. Once purchased, please email support@fatsoma.com with the email address used for both the correct and incorrect tickets, along with the last 4 digits of the long card number so that we can locate your orders. We will then notify the promoter of this change and let you know as soon as the original order has been refunded. The booking fee is non-refundable as per our terms.

3. ‘I have purchased a ticket but not been sent a confirmation email. Where can I find my ticket?’

At the end of the order process, every customer has the option to print out tickets straight away. Failing this, say for example you do not have a printer, you can access your account from any device by logging in to www.fatsoma.com/tickets. Your tickets will also be instantly emailed to the email address your Fatsoma account is registered under.

4. ‘Could I change the name on the ticket?’

A wrong name on the ticket will not be a problem, as event staff on the door should check the ticket reference on there alongside their ticket list. They may also be using a scanner, in which case the barcode at the top of the ticket will be used. However, we do not have a universal policy for entry at any event on Fatsoma. Please check the event description, information listed on the ticket, or with the organisers of the event what their entry policies are before you leave and make sure that door instructions are followed as these are set by the promoter.

5. ‘People in our Party are arriving separately. What do we do with the ticket?’

You can print out individual copies of the ticket if arriving separately. Have the person/s arriving first with the ticket mention to the door staff that others are arriving later and they will be able to admit your party individually as each person gets to the venue.

6. ‘I am having trouble opening and downloading my ticket attachment’

You will need to open the pdf tickets with Adobe Reader. You can download the latest version for free from http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/.

7. ‘I can no longer attend the event. Can I apply for a refund?’

Unfortunately, non-attendance at an event doesn’t qualify to be eligible for a refund. However, you may want to pass the ticket onto a friend if you can no longer attend for whatever reason.

8. ‘When on the buying page, I am receiving a ‘’3D Authentication error’’. What does this mean?’

3D Authentication is a security measure put in place by the card provider. We need to take 3D Authentication for all orders over £20. If you have not set this up or are having problems with it then please contact your bank as this is something that is not regulated by Fatsoma.

9. ‘I need more info on the event / Could I please speak to the promoters of the event?’

As Fatsoma is a self serve promotions platform, any event description is listed purely by the promoter. For more information on the event that that given, please contact the promoter directly. To find their contact info we recommend checking out their website, their official Facebook or Twitter pages or contacting the venue.

10. ‘I made a withdrawal a few days ago now from my rep account but haven’t received the money. When will this clear?’

All reps have the ability to withdraw their funds 3 days after the event has taken place. Make sure the sort code and account number are entered (note this is NOT the long number on the front of your card) and are correct. The money will be credited into that account within 2-3 working days depending on your bank.

If you have any further queries, please call the Fatsoma office Monday to Friday, 9am til 5.30pm (excluding public holidays) on 08443588677 or drop us an email to support@fatsoma.com and one of our helpful, friendly team will be able to assist you with your query.

Fatsoma has recently launched its exciting, happening, socials platform that enables group buying and the creation of parties, getting friends together for a BBQ, or a monster gathering at this year’s Bestival, we are the platform that gets friends together.

As a promoter, now is the perfect time to make use of this feature and keep your buying customers as informed as possible when listing events on Fatsoma.

BRAND

Even us as a company, we have a brand and image to maintain and recognise the importance of it. Taking pride in our Manchester roots, we are harnessing a Manchester identity and have used something very close to Manchester’s heart for business and industry.

In listing the events for the first time on Fatsoma you will notice ‘Event Brand’. Having a brand is a key factor in creating a following between you and your customers and giving you a unique identity on Fatsoma.

Our new socials platform can allow people to create parties on Fatsoma and allow them to buy tickets for an event under a brand.

A fine example of nurturing the brand is Sub-Tracked Events, based in London. Director Ben Prince says that although the company is in its infancy, the brand they have created has grown substantially since November last year. They held a 3,000 capacity indoor festival at London’s Proud 2 in May and are hoping for much bigger things for the rest of the year.

‘Branding is one of the most crucial parts of running regular events. It’s what you will promote and identify your brand for people to follow and look out for, if and when your events become successful. Branding will give your events recognition, set yourself apart from the competition, give you an identity and give you an opportunity to build and gain fans. For me building a database of followers through brand promotion is one of the most important factors of running Sub-Tracked Events.’

IMPORTANCE

Since Fatsoma has begun, we have created strong partnerships with some of the biggest brands in the country. Rough Hill, with their Full Moon parties all over the country and Detonate building brands such as Hospitality and their own indoor Festival, are big brands that have grown and grown and have used Fatsoma to help them sell out their events. In creating a brand, not only are you showing that you look the part with the events that run, but you are showing your customers that you know your stuff, keeping them in touch and up to date. This will show them that you know your stuff, and in turn retain their loyalty.

New nightlife players, such as Party Freaks have steadily grown their brand in and around London and will no doubt be looking to expand to wider areas very soon.

By keeping your customers informed on the event description page, they will know exactly what to expect from arriving at the event, to being at the event and having the time of their lives!

EVENT CANCELLATION

Picture the scene. You turn up at a venue, all your friends expectant, driving rain lashing at your face. What better way to pass this disappointment than getting indoors to party the night away!…’What’s this note stuck on the door…CANCELLED?!’ Not a pleasant image and it may seem cliched but it’s true. Promoters who don’t inform their customers of any cancellation or venue changes can infuriate customers and lead to angry posts on Facebook group walls and bring the rep of your brand down. In unfortunate circumstances of an event cancellation, actively informing your customers will show that you care and will please them also. Upon request, Fatsoma will export the data for that event enabling you to contact your customers and inform them of the situation. Adding incentives to attend the next event can prove to be a saving grace in circumstances like these, whereby people who were due to attend, get a friend in for free. This in turn is extending the reach of your events and brand and people will care that you care.

So all in all, the importance of the ‘Brand’ is paramount to your reputation of the events that you run and keeping customers in the loop with the amount of content listed in event descriptions will lead to many happy party goers and much more revenue from return custom.

Today we released our brand new social platform which allows users to organise things to do with their friends. Whether it’s a night out, a festival or drinks in the pub, people can use fatsoma to start a party and invite their friends. We’ll notify all their friends of what’s going on and send them a link so they can respond or buy tickets. We’ll then let the organiser know as soon as their friends say they’re in or buy tickets.

Organising things with friends using existing communication networks can be cumbersome and involve a lot of repetition. Fatsoma is now the easiest and best way in the world to get their friends together to do something, find things to do in their area and see where their friends are going.

How it works

When buying a ticket

After buying a ticket on fatsoma, all customers will have the opportunity to invite their friends. By clicking the “Invite your friends” button, they will be taken to their party page for this event. Fatsoma is seamlessly integrated with Facebook so they can simply click their friends that they’d like to invite. Fatsoma will then send a Facebook post out to those friends not yet on fatsoma, and an email to those that are, each with a link to the party page and the opportunity to say they’re in and buy a ticket. As soon as anyone says they’re in or buys a ticket, fatsoma will instantly notify all their fatsoma friends that are also in the party, including the organiser.

The ‘start a party’ form

Organisers simply add what, where, when and with whom they want to do something and fatsoma creates the party page and adds everyone to it. Again, fatsoma will then notify all friends with a party invite and notify any invited friends of their responses and actions.

Inviting friends

Due to fatsoma’s seamless integration with Facebook, it is incredibly easy to click the friends you wish to invite and fatsoma will do the rest. If they’re on fatsoma already, they’ll receive an email, if not, they will receive a Facebook post.

Facebook invites

Whenever an organiser invites a friend that is not yet on fatsoma to a party, they will receive a post on their Facebook timeline with the details of the party and how many are invited, and then a link to the party page. All they need to do is click through and respond.

Email notifications

Once people are signed up to fatsoma, the notifications become even more useful. Fatsoma users are notified whenever they are invited to a party and whenever one of their friends says they’re in or buys tickets to a party they’re also invited to (or organised). This helps all users stay in the loop with what’s going on. Each email has full details of the party, a list of everyone who’s invited, who’s in and who has bought tickets, and a link to say they’re in or buy tickets directly from the email.

The party page

Every time an organiser starts a party either after buying a ticket or using the simple form, a party page is created for them and their friends. This is the heart of fatsoma and contains all the details of where the party is going, when, and who’s invited. Friends can interact on the party page by writing comments, saying they’re in and buying tickets. To stay up to date with who’s invited, who’s in and who’s got tickets they just need to come back to this page. For any party going to an official event, there will always be a link on this party page to buy tickets, and this party page link will be included in every Facebook post and email notification, making it easier than ever to get organised and stay in the loop.

The party feed

When a user logs into fatsoma with Facebook, they can see all the parties they’ve created or their friends have invited them to on the fatsoma homepage. This is a one-stop-shop where they can stay organised and see all their upcoming plans. People will never have to miss a party again.

A promoter’s perspective

No changes to the promoter panel

Although fatsoma has got a new lick of paint and an oiling under the bonnet, the promoter panel has not changed. It is as easy as ever to list and manage events and tickets, only now they will be automatically added to the social group organising and buying platform in addition to the fatsoma event listing portal and any promoter box offices and websites. Promoters don’t have to do any extra work to access this new feature, simply list their events with tickets on fatsoma and the social platform will do the rest.

Benefits

Group buying: The platform brings friends together to plan their activities, primarily nights out, events and festivals. Fatsoma therefore allows promoters, festival organisers and venue owners to tap into natural friendships and group buying behaviour.

Tipping points: People are considerably more likely to buy tickets given the reassurance that their friends are also going. By instantly notifying users whenever their friends are interested in attending an event and whenever friends buy tickets for events, fatsoma provides important tipping points to encourage ticket purchasing.

Viral promotion post and pre purchase: Users can invite their friends to events on fatsoma in two ways, either filling in the ‘start a party’ form selecting what, where and when they’re going; or event simpler by clicking one button to create a party page and invite their friends after buying a ticket. Fatsoma sends out Facebook posts and emails to notify their friends. Every notification and party page has a link to buy tickets, ensuring sales go viral.

Facebook exposure: Through seamless integration with Facebook, users can invite their friends via Facebook whereby fatsoma will post the party link with buy tickets link on their wall and make it easy for them to get involved. This appears in the newsfeed of all their Facebook friends. Again when customers login with Facebook to buy a ticket, fatsoma will post on their timeline that they are attending the event with a link to buy tickets.

Fatsoma’s social package: Of course the existing benefits of fatsoma’s rep system, branded box offices and complete promotions platform remain.

We’d love to hear your feedback

Whether you’re a party goer or a promoter, if you’ve known fatsoma long you’ll know that we are constantly looking to innovate and improve the service, so we’d love to hear your feedback. What do you think of the brand new fatsoma system, and is there anything you would change to improve it?
